The Preschool Program

The day begins at 8:15 AM. Mrs. Anselmo and I meet the children in the playroom. Each class lines up with their respective teacher and walks up to their classroom. Upon entering the classroom, the children walk on the line singing their morning song. When the song ends the teacher signs for the children to please sit on the line for the morning activities.

• We begin our morning activities with our songs for the days and months of the year and end with our Morning Prayer and The Pledge of Allegiance. It is then time for snack.
• When the children have finished with snack, they return to the line and the group lesson for the day is given. The children then proceed to work independently while the teacher moves from child to child, observing and giving individual lessons. Lunch and recess begin at 11:00 AM followed by rest time at 12:00 PM. The preschool’s rest period is until 1:30 PM. The kindergarten students from both classes rest until 1:00 PM, followed by science class from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
• After rest time, the children return to class where they have a drink and story time. The children then go back to their independent work until it is time to go home. Before going home, the children end their day with a prayer.
• Between 3:15 PM and 3:30 PM the children are dismissed with the help of middle school students. At 3:30 PM the remaining children proceed to after school care which is available until 5:00 PM.

At the beginning of the school year, the children take the time to become acquainted with the environment and with each other. Both Mrs. Anselmo and I concentrate on letting them become comfortable while we introduce the concept of having respect for each other, students as well as adults, and also respect for the classroom environment.
